And that includes free shipping.....

6924th Heritage Association dues policy notice: This was posted on the 6924th web site by Gil on Jan 3, 2011:

Effective with these 2011 dues, I have deleted the mailing of membership cards as both a cost cutting measure and work reduction action. That is not to say that you can't have a membership card, but they won't be sent out "automatically".
Many cards were just discarded and some folks even stated "no need to send a membership card". So this idea seems to be a good one.
IF you DO want your annual membership card after making payment, tell me so when you send your check and I'll send one if I know you want it and will keep it. Otherwise, it'll same money and time.
Those paying for LIFE membership will continue to get their one LIFE membership card.... and/or a replacement if the original bites the dust.
So if you paid your dues in December 2010 or January 2011, no cards have been or will be sent UNLESS you email me and let me know to send you one.
I don't think this will make a big difference with most folks but your comments are always wanted/needed.
Happy New Year to all who might be "back to work" today.....!............... Cheers....GIL
Are you ready? To get back on the 6924th Heritage Association web site? But you forgot your username and/or password? During that celebration, our attendees were shown and allowed to take photos of the 324IS’s Guidon (unit flag) and its awards, decorations and campaign streamers. That led to questions regarding the whereabouts of, and months-long search for our own 6924SS Guidon. Gone. No trace. So, last year, we took on the project of researching the 6924SS Guidon for the Association. With inputs and new photography from the 324IS Commander and staff, we thought we had it nailed. But close examination of their photos of the Guidon, and its 14 streamers from the 6924th era, revealed they were unaware of our unit’s previous guises BEFORE it became a full-fledged squadron in 1965.Research into the 1961-65 era revealed that the 324th has less than half the authorized streamers attached to their Guidon. Researching and documenting the actual number, types, and dates through DoD and AF records (mostly thermo fax and microfiche from that era) was a nightmare. But it's done: the list now stands at 32. I’ll post the list separately. Our 6924SS Guidon and its Award, Decoration, and Campaign streamers – 1962-73 - have been reproduced. They were presented to the Members at the 2008 Reunion Welcoming Dinner. There is one "unauthorized" streamer – a memorial to Airman First Class Paul Wayne Anthony. Paul, our R29150 who was killed in our Comm Center during a 122mm rocket attack on the night of 8 April 1970. He had left his new bride in North Carolina when he shipped-out to the Nam - and had been in-country less than a week. Paul’s shift mate, Ralph "RJ" Jones, on-duty and severely wounded himself when Paul was killed, attached the Memorial Streamer to the Guidon during the Welcoming Dinner presentation. THE GUIDON STANDThe Guidon stand was designed and produced by non-military friends of Connie and Fred Sepelak - the Ziemba family (Judy, Jack, Mike, and Michele) in Michigan. The Ziembas had "adopted" the 6924SS several years ago for its 15-year service in SEAsia, and had got wind of the Guidon Project. They're in the machining business (Aristo-Cast Co., Almont, MI) and thought we could use a floor stand for our Guidon. It took months to complete - and it’s truly a work-of-art.The base of the pyramidal stand is 0.5-inch aluminum, weighing in at 32-lbs. On each side are bronze castings of our "patches," representing several of the guises of the unit: Team 1-A, 6920SW ("Zobel’s Zombies" – the Pioneers); Det 2, 6925SG; Monkey Mountain; and the 6924SS. Beautiful work! Judy and Jack attended the Reunion and presented their stand to the troops at the Welcoming Dinner.
TELE TIGER October 24, 2008 Page 3
Our Guidon, streamers, and the stand are both unique and send a profound message to each of us: While each saw his tour and experiences through a single, personal "lens," the flag, streamers, and stand serve to mold all those experiences into a single entity. For 15 years, we WERE the unit. Today, we ARE the unit. Our Squadron set the standard for Combat Intelligence for decades to come. Major General Gary O'Shaughnessy recently revealed that the very techniques and methodologies we developed at Da Nang, Monkey Mountain, and Ramasun are employed today – in Afghanistan and Iraq.Regardless the evolution of technologies and missions, the goal we established so long ago, remains today: "Protect the Force."The 6924SS, one of the longest tenured, most highly decorated units of the war in SEAsia, lives on in each of us. We are justly proud ..... and we are Legend .....Our sincerest thanks to all who assisted in this project.KRAIT Ø1
6924TH SECURITY SQUADRON, USAFSS
UNIT AWARD, DECORATION, AND CAMPAIGN GUIDON STREAMERSITEM AWARD UNIT & DATES1 Armed Forces Expeditionary 6920SW, Team 1-A 13 Jan 62 – 30 Jun 622 Armed Forces Expeditionary 6923RSM, Det 1 1 Jul 62 – 15 Aug 633 Armed Forces Expeditionary 6925SG, Det 2 16 Aug 63 – 1 Mar 654 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6923RSM, Det 1 1 Oct 63 – 15 Aug 635 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6925SG, Det 2 16 Aug 63 – 30 Sep 646 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6925SG, Det 2 2 Nov 64 – 30 Jun 657 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6922SW, Det 2 1 Jul 65 – 30 Sep 658 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 1 Oct 65 – 1 Dec 65 9 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 1 Dec 65 – 30 Sep 66 10 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 15 Jul 67 – 16 Jul 67 11 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 1 Jan 68 – 31 Dec 69 12 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 1 Jan 70 – 31 Mar 71 13 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 1 Apr 71 – 31 Mar 72 14 Air Force Outstanding Unit 6924SS "Valor" 1 Apr 72 – 30 Jan 73 15 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Advisory 15 Nov 1961– 1 Mar 196516 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Defensive 2 Mar 1965 – 30 Jan 196617 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Vietnam Air 31 Jan – 28 Jun 196618 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Air Offensive 29 Jun 1966 – 08 Mar 196719 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Air Offensive, Phase II 9 Mar 1967 – 31 Mar 196820 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Air/Ground 22 Jan – 07 Jul 196821 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Air Offensive, Phase III 1 Apr – 31 Oct 196822 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Air Offensive, Phase IV 1 Nov 1968 – 22 Feb 196923 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Tet 1969 Counteroffensive 23 Feb – 08 Jun 196924 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Summer-Fall 1969 9 Jun – 31 Oct 196925 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Winter-Spring 1970 1 Nov 1969 – 30 Apr 197026 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Sanctuary Counteroffensive 1 May – 30 Jun 197027 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Southwest Monsoon 1 Jul – 30 Nov 197028 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Commando Hunt V 1 Dec 1970 – 14 May 197129 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Commando Hunt VI 15 May – 31 Oct 197130 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Commando Hunt VII 1 Nov 1971 – 29 Mar 197231 Vietnam Service Campaign USAF Vietnam Cease Fire 30 Mar 1972 – 28 Jan 197332 RVN Gallantry Cross w/Palm 8 Feb 62 – 28 Mar 73
Tin man and his travels.
"Ron & Linda Wisian have taken Tin Man home to Frisco, Texas, and will try and whip him into some "Stateside shape" in the coming months. It puts a strain on the organizers who are working hard trying to put the events together when they don't have a reliable number of attendees to work with. We have less than two months to go. I asked Jer if he would donate a quilt and like always he said he would without hesitation. He got tired of waiting on me to start the auction so he began the auction with this posting. The proceeds of the silent auction will go to the 6924th. There are currently 2 quilts donated by Jer being auctioned on the web site. One is the Tiger quilt and the other is Flag Dreamin’. Kudos Ed, and thanks for the warm up for our Mini.
This year's California Mini Reunion was held on Saturday, March 3, 2007. The weather was terrific and company was outstanding, as usual. Tigers from the Central Valley, Sacramento, and San Francisco Bay Area met at the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Sacramento for our annual "Mini" Reunion. (Pictures are posted on the site.)
It's always good to gather and renew old friendships and this year was no exception. Some of our number attend the annual Reunions held around the country, and some faithfully attend the "Mini" Reunion. Whichever one you choose, (or both for that matter), attending one or the other is a great way to keep in touch with members of the Heritage Association.
This year, Ed Gardini also acted as our Chaplain as the group (including Vera Cahill and Miki Gardini), remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom. I always reconnect with that time in my life a long time ago, when visiting the memorial, and being with friends and fellow Tigers makes it a special day...one I look forward to, every year. Thanks for being there again this year Tigers.
Lunch afterward is also always special as the mood lightens, and barbs, and good natured jabs are exchanged over a terrific meal at the Hyatt Hotel, located just a short walk away. This year was no different. Amid the jokes, we were all somewhat taken aback when Larry Cahill announced he was also in the running for fatherhood of Anna Nichol Smith's baby, but Vera just smiled her knowing smile and let Larry continue to "sweat" that pesky paternity suit. (Brigitte smiles at me that way too. Do you suppose they have us figured out, Larry?)
Make plans to join us again next year in Sacramento. It's fun and Larry promises to have the new baby there for pictures.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Send orders & payments to: Association contact: Newsletter suggestions:
6924th Heritage Assn. For those of you who have not visited the "Wall," or have never witnessed the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the unknowns, this promises to be a very moving day.
Please remember that this is a package was put together with you in mind, and I know of no plans to visit Washington, DC, again as a large group in the future. Here's what may be our last chance to be among Tigers, family and close friends and participate in some very special events in October. Make your plans to join us.
Senator John McCain's staff is handling our White House and Capitol tours on Saturday, October 13. The times are not set for these two tours, but they'll both be in the morning. We'll visit the new US Air Force Memorial that afternoon.
Tigers, I'm processing reunion packages every week, and look forward to seeing old friends and new attendees' paperwork cross my desk. As Probationary Assistant Event Coordinator, (Probie EC), I'm happy to answer your questions or concerns. Remember friends and family are always welcome to join us. This year Sepelaks, and Cahills are bringing friends, and Mike & Linda Gilkerson are bringing daughter Dawn. We've had the pleasure of seeing Eddie Brown's Mom and Dad in the past and Richard (Clyde and Margaret's boy), too. Don't be shy, bring friends and family, they'll be shocked to learn you were respectable once upon a time!
Seriously, please send your checks and information in and let’s build the reunion attendance to over one hundred (100) again this year. Rosebrock, Victor C. “Rosie”, “Vic” (65-66), Bath, John M. (66), Boggs, Hugh M. (67), Landers, George S. (65-66), Morgan, Eugene T. “Gene” (62-63).
All about the money? Nope, not this time. The 6924th Heritage Association does rely on donations and membership dues to survive but it also provides the web site free to all who served at the 6924SS or its other unit designations at Da Nang or Ramasun whether or not membership dues are paid. All donations are voluntary and greatly appreciated and membership dues are also voluntary. Participation in Association sponsored reunions and mini-reunions also is available to all whether or not membership dues are paid. The Association does not pressure Tigers to contribute to its cause. Donations are graciously accepted in any amount a Tiger can afford. If not the money what is it all about? Memories. Even more than just memories, it is about preserving our history. It is about meeting new friends. It is about sharing stories with a group of guys who have shared some of the same experiences. It is about renewing old acquaintances, remembering old times and far away places, and sharing our life experiences with others. The 6924th Heritage Association is about a lot more than the money.
6924th Dates as updated by Terry Kearney September, 2006
Dec 61: Team 1A, 6923RSM activated at Clark AB, PI.Jan 62: Team in-place at Da Nang VNAFB, RVN62: Redesignated Det 1, 6923RSM63: Det1, 6923RSM Monkey Mountain (nui Son Tra) Operations Site established64: Redesignated Det2, 6925RGM (6925SG)01 July 65: Redesignated Det2, 6922SW01 Oct 65: Redesignated 6924SSApr 71: Sqdn move to Ramasun Station, THApr 71: MM Ops Site designated 6924SS OLAA Jan 73: OLAA deactivated15 May 76: 6924SS deactivated, Ramasun Station, TH01 Aug 80: Sqdn reactivated at Field Station Kunia, Oahu, HI, as 6924 Electronic Security Sqdn (6924ESS)01 Oct 93: Sqdn redesignated 324th Intelligence Squadron (324IS)PWA Scholarship donation: Gil recently posted this great story on the 6924th web site:
We all know we had a great reunion and received allot of monetary support from our members. Well, here's the KICKER.....!!!!!I had a phone call from an anonymous Tiger who said he wanted to do more for the Association and the Paul Wayne Anthony Scholarship Fund and he was sending me a check. That check was received a few days ago in the amount of $20,000.....!!!!!!I know you too feel chill bumps and the hair may be standing up on your neck too, but the donator does NOT want to be identified or get recognition for his contribution. So all we can say is THANK YOU, TIGER....!!!!!Now...... If you go to the Photos section you'll find the newest financial statement dated 25 October 2006. You'll also note that the "Balance Sheet" reflects $10,240.85 in our CD. That's because the financial report was completed prior to completing our work with the CD's.We negotiated with the bank to pull out the $10K CD (at 2.2%) without a penalty if we added the $20K to the new CD. So what we have now is one CD for $30,726.14 in a 10-month CD, with all accrued interest. That will give us plenty of time to get the UNCC paperwork and decisions made and earn some additional interest in the meantime.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
Send orders & payments to: Association contact: Newsletter suggestions:
6924th Heritage Assn. Gil and the gang got VIP passes to the Hospitality Tent at the Air Show later that day (including free Bud Lite). There has been no confirmation that Fred’s conversation with the mayor was on the local evening news. Here’s some of Gil’s Story:
Here's another hat story and they just keep getting better, for one reason or another.Linda and I met up with Fred & Connie Sepelak at the Vet's Day Parade at the corner of 4th Street and Freemont Street. That's right at the end of the Freemont Street Experience. We were standing together with Fred & Connie and their traveling partners, Jack & Judy and just watching the people gather around to watch the parade. I was wearing my 6924th hat of course and I had my green "vest" on too and had followed the VA Secretary's suggestion that us old fogies should wear our ribbons and/or medals at such events. I wore my ribbon rack AND the seven medals that are available in the miniature size. Fred and I were just chatting when this fine looking younger fella approached us wearing a WW II bomber jacket with a unit insignia. Before I could comment about his patch, he said, "DaNang, huh"? Yes sir I responded and said "69-70". I pointed to Fred and said he was also there in the same unit.He followed that by asking if we were there for the parade and if we were going to the Air Show at Nellis AFB, today too. We said YES we were and he asked "how would you like a VIP parking pass and some free passes to the hospitality tent....?" Now that was a silly question to ask Fred, and me because anything FREE is an automatic YES to both of us I do believe. We asked what we had to do for those in a joking manner and he responded that he had the passes to give out and he wanted to thank us for our service with these passes. Well of course we shook his hand and thanked him for his kind offer. I also asked if the Bomber Group patch was his dad's unit and he responded yes. Fred asked him about what he did for a living and he responded he was a pilot for FEDEX during the day but he was the "Special Projects Director" for the Aviation Nation, the group that puts on the air shows annually at many locations around the country.Curtis T. Wilson was his name and he was a very personable and friendly guy. He told us that astronaut Eugene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon was the parade grand Marshall and after they walked the parade route, he, Curtis Wilson would make an attempt to bring him by for a personal introduction and photo opportunity. We told him that would be great but in the end, they were too busy and the limo left before we saw them pass by us in the crowd. Curtis was a busy man and had to run off but he went to the limo and retrieved the VIP parking pass and the six guest passes for the air show hospitality area, which was hosted by Outback Steakhouse. We arrived at Nellis at the "I" Street entrance and were promptly guided right to the Thunderbird's Headquarters and Museum to park the vehicle. A short walk and we were in the Outback Steakhouse tent, out of the wind and very comfortable, not to mention the FREE steak & chicken dinner that was provided for all with access to the area. And then there was that little "extra" too.... FREE Bud Light for the asking...! Jack and I were more than honored to have a glass or two while watching the show. Fred didn't know how his buddy Jack would like the air show portion of our experience because he hadn't been feeling well for a day or so, but old Jack loved all those aircraft flying in review and, since we were right in the hospitality tent, those flyers "drove" right by us after landing and saluted and waved to everyone. They were the distance from the curb to a car on a road as they passed by and the excitement level was high. Jack took streaming video of some of the Thunderbird performance and promised to send it to me. One of the requests we had from Curtis Wilson was that we send him a copy of our photo and any comments that our "hat story" item might get on the website. He keeps a collection of memories and of course of the guys he provided the FREE passes for in a notebook. I'm sure when I send him the photo he'll have some more stuff to send to us of our experience. Had we not received this exciting gift from Curtis we would have had to join the throngs of people traveling to the NASCAR track to park, paying $3 for a bus ride to the flightline and then back again with the crowd when it was over. We walked a couple of hundred yards to our car, drove off base and were on our way in no time compared to what we would have had to endure. I know this from experience last year and it made me even MORE proud that this 6924th hat brings such rewards from total strangers....!!!!
Once again we can't tell ya enough to WEAR THOSE HATS when you're OUT....!!!! You never can tell when BENEFITS beyond belief will come to you just for that 6924th hat...!!! What a great time.
2007 Dues are due. And while you're doing that, why not ask about setting up a "mini reunion" after the first of the year to start getting some guys in YOUR local area together. We still have many, many Tigers onboard that have never met up with anyone...! Let’s start getting EVERYONE in the action and going to have coffee, breakfast or just to sit at some location and talk awhile. This IS grass roots 6924th Heritage Assn action. One of the most important tasks we have now is to "bring in more participants" to our activities and to have MORE of those activities. We have CHAPTERS in the making out there. Get them working and moving forward and don't sit on your hands all winter getting the blues. Plan a small get together, contact the troops and go for it. If you want a listing of the Tigers in YOUR STATE, just email me at mikegilkerson@charter.net and I'll send you a listing for you to contact. It is sent on/or about the 24th of each month from
Teletiger@myfamily.com
Fallen Tigers: Desire L. “Des, Dutch” D’Orange (67-68), we also mourn the loss of Jerry Freeman's wife Bessie who passed away this month after a long illness.
Welcome Aboard: David Donn(70-71)
Reunion 2006 is over and it appears that those of us who were unable for whatever reason to make it missed a great time. Almost 100 were in attendance. Here is some feedback from attendees:
Reunion 2006 update from Gil
We collected $3020 BEFORE the reunion, and continued sales here at the reunion. The final total, while it was "fluid" all evening, ended at about $4300. That's approximate because we didn't, or couldn't, document the amounts received at poolside during the pre-raffle hour or so. Any way you look at it, Ruben and Mary Villafranca did a fantastic job with the raffle AGAIN...! It was smooth, quick and very efficient. At 8:30pm we were off to do whatever the evening held for us. GREAT JOB to ALL those folks who helped in the raffle and the setup for the luau just prior to the raffle. All in all it was just maaaavaleous....!!!! I'll also give an update on the Bessie Freeman Memorial that is also going to the Paul Wayne Anthony AFROTC Scholarship Fund. This amount is also "fluid" since contributions were mailed to World HQs that have not been counted and folks continue to donate even this morning. The current total is $4176.....!!!!! That should even top the $5K mark in my humble judgement. If you haven't participated in this tribute to Bessie Freeman, I humbley (sp) ask you to step forward and send a check to World HQs. And a GREAT BIG thanks to everyone who has already participated.
R. E. Hap took some pics so I expect they will be ready on site soon. The rest of that crowd had a good time to visit and ate some really good pasta. We tried to stick John Thelen with the bill, but it did not work. Almost out the door headed for the long trek to the hospitality room. Our room is on one side of the hotel and the meeting rooms are on the other. Between is a maze of corridors. Not lost yet, but I carry breadcrumbs to drop along the way. Somebody keeps vacuuming them up behind me. I wonder if that is a message........
Paul Wayne Anthony AFROTC Scholarship: is a fund established by the 6924th Heritage Association in April 2004 and is a major purpose of the association. The fund makes awards each year to deserving Cadets at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte Air Force ROTC program. The Scholarship fund is supported entirely by association membership dues ($12 per year) direct donations, and other association fund- raising activities. The Scholarship program was founded to help preserve the memory of Paul Wayne Anthony, who died April 8, 1970 in a rocket attack on the 6924th Security Squadron communications center at DaNang. Airman Anthony had given up his educational pursuits at UNC-Charlotte to serve our country and is the only 6924SS member listed as KIA. Several Cadets have received awards from this great program that preserves our history while providing needed assistance to young students and future Air Force officers. Generous Tigers have kept the program alive and well and your continued support of the program is appreciated. Donations are always welcome in any amount you can afford. Please help support this wonderful program if you are able. Additional information about the PWA fund including the initial Cadet selection criteria and information about past winners is in the News section of our web site under the category ” PWA AFROTC Scholarship” or “PWA Scholarship fund”. Send your tax-deductible contribution today.
Reunion 2007 will be for 4 days late Sept. or early Oct. 2007 The Reunion Committee has designated the Washington, D.C. area for our next Annual Reunion, to be held in the fall of 2007. Details will be forthcoming, but will include a service at the Vietnam Wall. After reading comments in the surveys (here at the 2006 Reunion), the Reunion Committee felt comfortable to announce the reunion location for next year. The survey included in this edition of the TELE-TIGER is the same survey given out here in Colorado Springs (and eventually mailed to those without Internet access) and is still very much VALID and member comments and input is still solicited. Please send your comments to World HQ and GIL ASAP.

Vegas Veterans Day Parade and Mini reunion
Mark your calendar and make your plans to be in Vegas for the Veterans Day celebration, the big parade, and a few Tiger buddies lookin’ to tell some stories to anyone who will listen. AL RAYMONDI, the editor of the Tele Tiger is this year's recipient. But also mentioned in the citation is the work done by Diane Raymondi in support of Al's work. Here's the citation read at the banquet on 22 Sept 06.The Sixth Annual Founder's Award once again goes to an outstanding Tiger who continually works to improve the communications among the membership. There are three primary means of communication between our Tiger buddies. The first method was the website and associated email. The founder was presented with the first Founder's Award. The secfond method of communication was the Sponsorship Program and the founder of that program was also the recipient of the Founder's Award. The third method of communication between our Tigers is through the Tele Tiger newsletter. In November 2003 the idea of a newsletter was floating around but the "means" to get it done without being a great expense was the problem. It was at that time that AL RAYMONDI stepped forward and suggested we use the website to distribute the Tele Tiger to everyone online and let the sponsors take care of those offline. After a couple of trial and error transmissions, Al transmitted the first official "rebirth" of the Tele Tiger in November 2003.Al opened the first Tele Tiger with this statement:"Up from the ashes and from thirty years of silence TELE TIGER speaks again! This is the FIRST EDITION of our quarterly newsletter. This is a low budget operation which has as the single purpose to inform those who have served in the 6924SS."After only several quarters it became apparent that we needed to change the Tele Tiger. At that time the Tele Tiger became a monthly newsletter. In his infinite wisdom, Al decided that the date of publication should be on the "24th" of each month. Since that time everyone with a valid email address on the website receives an email on the 24th with the Tele Tiger attached. That date is also the cue for all the sponsors to print the Tele Tiger and mail it to all the Tigers they sponsor.Al Raymondi stepped forward and took this project by the horns from the first mention of a newsletter. he continually extracts information from the website for inclusion in the next edition and seeks out other information that may be of interest and help to our Tiger brothers. This baby is HIS and he runs with it and only occasionally yells for "input" from us.But we can't recognize Al Raymondi and not mention that all that "data entry" work on the Tele Tiger seems to be done by DIANE RAYMONDI. So we have another TEAM working together for the betterment of our community of Tigers and making communications better for all.The founder of the TELE TIGER newsletter is the 2006 Founder's Award recipient. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Tele Tiger September 24, 2006 Page 4

Annual 6924th Heritage Association reunion survey.

Please return the following 6924th Heritage Association Annual Reunion Survey to Mike Gilkerson at the Registration Desk or mail to: World Headquarters, 6924th Heritage Assn, P.O. There are no vacancies for the NORAD tours; both are reserved to capacity.
Recent web site posting by Clyde Orr (68-69)
As I looked at the calendar this morning the date jumped out at me. On August 7, 1968 I boarded a plane headed for DaNang. How could I have known that thirty-eight years later I would still be involved with a group of great people that shared my same fate. I just want to thank Gil for starting the web site and the 6924th Heritage Association that brought us all together. I would like to let all you folks that have never made one of our reunions to know that you are really missing an opportunity to meet up with some terrific people and to renew some old friendships with guys that you were stationed with. I urge all of you to join us in Colorado Springs. Make your reservations now.
Time is getting short. Make your reservations and friends Fly Free* to Las Vegas! Bring your wife or significant other or whoever you travel with.Vegas Vets day parade and Mini. Gil posted this on the web site recently. I received the Vegas Entry packet that was addressed to Steve Engel at the 6924th Heritage Assn address so we have the package. The question now is do we have the PEOPLE that can/will commit to go in November...? The deadline for the parade deal is in early September this year so IF we want to do the parade, it'll have to be in and done sometime in late August. Contact Gill or your sponsor if you plan to attend.I haven't seen much/any activity on folks saying they'll make the fun in Vegas so I guess it's about time to ASK.............. The 6924th Battle Flag (it's really a quilt made by Jer from Texas) was given to Steve Manzer to take home to Boston at the conclusion of last years New Orleans reunion. He has assured me that it has been guarded well with many additions which will be on display in Colorado Springs. The Battle Flag is adorned with numerous military patches, pins, photos, etc. All members attending the reunions are requested to sign the Battle Flag which in time will be retired in a yet to be named place and manner. The MAN upstairs will dictate who will be the last of us standing to carry out this honor. Tradition has it that the "passing of the flag" take place at the reunion business meeting. It is Steve's responsibility to pass the flag for safe keeping to a member who has at least a tentative plan to attend the 2007 reunion. If any of you have a photo, patch, pin or other memorabilia item which you would like to have put on the flag, please forward it to Steve ASAP.....Address: 30 Thicket St. Weymouth, MA 02190Phone: 781-335-0304 E Mail manzer@massed.netMark your calendar for the 24th of each month.
